Freestanding bathtubs
A freestanding tub is the one piece in a bathroom people remember. Ours range from compact soakers that fit where an old alcove tub used to be, to long, deep tubs made for two, in solid-surface stone resin and lightweight acrylic.
Not sure where to start? Measure the space first, then pick a material. The size breakdown below and our guides walk you through both.

How much space do I need around a freestanding tub?
Plan for at least 4 to 6 inches between the tub and any wall so you can clean behind it, and more if you can spare it. Leave roughly 30 inches of clear floor on the side you step in from. Our tub size guide goes through it step by step.
Is stone resin or acrylic better?
Stone resin is heavier, feels solid and holds heat longer, with a matte stone-like finish. Acrylic is lighter, easier to carry upstairs and usually costs less. See our stone resin vs acrylic guide for a side-by-side comparison.
Will my floor hold a freestanding tub?
A filled tub with a bather can weigh many hundreds of pounds, and a stone resin tub is heavy even when empty. Most ground-floor and well-framed upper floors are fine, but for an older home or a large tub on an upper floor, have a contractor check the joists before you order.
What else do I need to install one?
A freestanding tub needs a floor drain connection, a drain and overflow (some tubs include a pop-up drain, check each listing) and a filler: either a floor-mounted tub filler or a wall-mounted faucet. We carry tub drains and fillers too.
