Is quartz better than granite?
Quartz is non-porous, so unlike most granite it doesn't need sealing, and its colour and pattern are consistent from slab to slab. Granite handles direct heat better. For a low-maintenance kitchen or bath, quartz is hard to beat. More in our quartz guide.
2cm or 3cm: which thickness?
3cm is the more substantial look, common for kitchen counters and islands, and usually doesn't need a built-up edge. 2cm is lighter and often chosen for vanity tops and backsplashes.
Can I put hot pans on quartz?
Use a trivet. Quartz is tough, but the resin that binds it can discolour or crack from sudden high heat, such as a pan straight off the burner.
How do I clean it?
Warm water with a mild dish soap and a soft cloth is all it needs day to day. Avoid bleach, oven cleaner and abrasive pads.
How is quartz priced for a project?
Project cost depends on square footage, thickness, edge profile, cut-outs and installation. Tell us about your space and we'll put together pricing.
